An outbreak of avian flu has been confirmed at a farm in the Lowdham area. A 3km protection zone and 10km surveillance zone have been put in place around the infected premises to restrict animal movements. Road signs are also in place to notify people that they are entering the 10km surveillance zone. From Monday 16th May, Trading Standards Officers, along with other partner agencies, will be visiting properties in the 3km protection zone and will be knocking on doors to identify any households keeping any type of captive bird, poultry or pigs. All staff will have ID badges and there will be no need for any officer to enter any property. Avian Influenza is in no way connected to the COVID-19 pandemic.
